Airport Value Marketing Association (AVMA) together with Aviation Health (AH) launched Healthy Flying at the Malta International Airport on Tuesday 24th June 2008.
Flying can be a major mental and physical stressor, which is why the Airport Value Marketing Association are devoted to encouraging flyers to adopt methods that will benefit their heath and comfort while travelling. Even for those who do not suffer from flight anxiety, when flying our body under goes strenuous changes that we may not even be aware of. Thus, the notion of healthy flying is relevant to all travellers.
AVMA wishes to provide passengers with simple approaches to make for a more relaxing and comfortable journey.
With the help and guidance of Farrol Kahn, Founder and Director of non-profit organisation AH, in association with AVMA, are promoting products that are easily and readily available before departure, ranging from moisturisers to combat dryness in flight, flight socks to reduce leg swelling; pillows, eye masks and noise cancelling earplugs to help induce sleep, ear planes to relieve pressure changes; oxygen supplement droppers to revive the brain; dark chocolate to assist the circulation and red wine, to act as an anti-oxidant upon arrival.
There are stress busting and energy boosting foods and healthy options you can eat at the airport, as well as products you can take along, which will increase your health and comfort on board and after arrival. There are drinks such as Champagne to aid relaxation before a flight and fruit juices to build your immune system, as well as reduce your fatigue.
The aim of healthy flying is to help passengers feel good on board and arrive in better shape, which validates why AVMA would want to forcefully take on the concept, providing a higher level of customer care.
Farrol Kahn has written four books on aviation health and medicine and has been in the aviation industry for the past 25 years. He praised MIA by saying “Malta Airport is one of the most progressive in Europe, as it cares for its passengers by offering information on healthy flying.”
MAS Communications was entrusted with the co-ordination of the press launch, the complete image management and media campaign. Items generated included banners, posters, brochures, menus, shelftalkers, billboards, a collapsible stand, adverts in local and foreign press and coordination of customer care representatives. |
